ARLINGTON, TX — The Yankees were going for the series sweep in Texas. They could not accomplish such a fate. The Yankees lost 3-0 to the Rangers. They fall to 20-11 on the season.
Some Notes:
- Elmer Rodriguez had his MLB debut. It could have been better. He pitched 4+ innings, surrendering two runs. The biggest struggle for Rodriguez was his command. He walked four batters and hit a batter. That lead to things coming apart in the two-run fifth inning.

- The Yankees offense did nothing against Nathan Eovaldi. They mustered four hits, two off the bat of Ben Rice. Eovaldi absolutely dealt today against the Yankees. His stuff was good in part because he avoided usage of his sinker and four-seam fastball. His sinker had batters 0-9 with a walk against it.
Nathan Eovaldi blanked the Yankees over seven innings today, striking out seven in the process!

His splitter was on fire today, posting some nasty stuff and executed to perfection. No one was touching that today! pic.twitter.com/LSgyFMJA1X
- Jasson Dominguez was removed from the game with a left elbow contusion. Dominguez was examined by the Rangers Team Physician, per the team. X-Rays were taken and further imaging is required in New York. It does not sound good for a guy who has a shot to take some playing time.
- The Yankees might want to reconsider having Trent Grisham leading off. His at-bats out of the leadoff spot are killing the team. His metrics look good despite the low batting average. The at-bats Ben Rice is giving in general should be at the top of the lineup to give the Yankees an ideal chance to score runs and put up big numbers.
- The Yankees were shut out for the second time this season.
The Yankees will have an off day tomorrow after their long road trip. They will come home Friday to play the Baltimore Orioles for their first home division match up of the season. For New York, it will be RHP Will Warren (3-0, 2.59). The Orioles, who will play a double header against the Astros Thursday, have not listed a starter. It will be a 7:05 start on the YES network.
