Clarke Schmidt struggled in the first inning, issuing a leadoff walk to Kwan then a two-run home run to Martinez. Then, he gave up a double to Ramirez with no outs. He would get two outs before giving up an RBI double to Schneeman making it 3–0 CLE early. Schmidt did not allow a run for the rest of his outing.

  • The Yankees were very quiet offensively today thought the first 4 innings, though the Home Plate umpire, Ron Kulpa did not help with the inconsistency in calls behind the plate, likely plate appearances.
  • The Yankees grounded into three double plays today, two off the bat of Anthony Volpe, who had another dismal day offensive.
